Contact ECE

Eco-counselling Enterprise (ECE) is a European-wide cooperative network focusing on sustainable management, with emphasis on environmental issues. While the company was legally constituted in 2002, a number of associates started collaborating in 1987, the Year of the Environment. More associates joined the informal network around the preparation of the 1992 Earth Summit held in Rio.
At ECE, we share all the same values :
sustainable economic growth,
protection of the environment and its natural resources,
fairness in the marketplace and
equity in the north-south relations.
Our network is led by senior environmentalists with a global track record in environmental management; the network includes young enthusiastic engineers and environmental counsellors.
Today, the Eco-counselling Enterprise is able to offer the combined expertise of 25 consultants in the field of Environmental Management Systems (EMS/ISO 14001) and the Eco-Management Audit Scheme (EMAS) with the ability to operationalize sustainable development strategies. While our primary focus has been within 10 European countries, we are linked to networks in other economic regions of the world, enabling us to offer a truly global perspective.
Our company is headquartered in Brussels, the heart and decision-making centre of Europe. We are a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary company. We can operate in several different languages and cultural settings to align seamlessly with the requirements of our customers. We have worked all over Europe, including some of the Ascension Countries and those bounding the Mediterranean area. Our reach has extended as far as South East Asia and we have just been invited into Australia.
We believe that globalisation of markets is driving the growth and adoption of standardization as the platform for economic relationships within the marketplace. Standards like ISO 14001 for EMS, OHSAS 18001 for Health and Safety, SA 8000 for Social Accountability, the recently published IS0 22000 for food safety, EMAS, and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), amongst others are becoming de facto market requirements. Our approach to assignments is innovative; especially when it comes to simplifying and de-mystifying environmental management systems. We are unique in our approach to make these standards accessible for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Our techniques and tools are cost effective, less expensive to use, and enable a faster adoption than more traditional approaches. ECE is well known for being able to identify the critical points within the work process for small business and offer a tailored approach to align with the culture of the company. We have also proved invaluable as an essential bridge between policy makers and shapers in governance organizations and the more action-focused culture of SMEs.
